The 2021 Ballentine Estate Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a small fourth-generation family-owned and operated winery located in the heart of Napa Valley. The winery was first founded in 1905 and today Frank Ballentine heads up the operation. This Cabernet is all estate produced and aged in French oak for 14 months with about 45% of the barrels new. This wine is a dark red/purple color in the glass and this beauty leaps out with aromas of fresh black cherry and blackberry over strawberry and currants. Lovely accents of rubbed sage and rosemary unfurl with underlying hints of semi-sweet chocolate and licorice that spin into the perfect kiss of toasted vanilla oak to soften the muscular core of tannin into a mouth-watering and plush Cab that spins to a long, pure finish that is juicy and delicious!
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Grown, with 11.5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec, and 3.5% Petit Verdot in the blend, is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It comes barreling out with notes of warm cassis, juicy plums, and cedar plus wafts of graphite and bay leaves. The full-bodied palate is laden with classic black berry and savory flavors supported by grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with a refreshing herbal lift.
A polished, creamy style, with flattering plum sauce and blackberry puree notes that glide through, with a gloss of roasted vanilla bean elements. Reveals a late tug of graphite that keeps the finish honest. Drink now through 2035. 750 cases made.
