Villa Trasqua, a historic estate with roots in viticulture dating back to 1000 AD, produces this Gran Selezione from its oldest vineyard, Nerento—planted solely with Sangiovese on Alberese (limestone) and Galestro (marl) soils.
As a Gran Selezione, this wine adheres to the highest Chianti Classico DOCG standards, made exclusively from estate-grown fruit and aged a minimum of 30 months.
Floral (lavender, spice box), rich cherry/plum fruit, herbal/licorice, orange zest finish; structured yet silky tannins.
This has a beautiful nose of lavendar, spice box, sour cherries, sweet blackberries, closed, and fresh leather. Medium-bodied with firm, chewy tannins and bright acidity. Perfumed wood character yet it doesn't overpower the fruit. From organically grown grapes. Even better after 2023.
