Terreno is run by the Ruhne family who has been making wine on the estate since 1988. Their humble beginnings are similar to most in the Chianti region and began with simple table wines. Fast forward and they have grown and evolved into a well-respected estate known for organic vineyard practices and championing the importance of identifying the 11 different village regions within the larger Chianti Classico for their individuality reflected in their wines. Every day they reaffirm their commitment to respecting and preserving the precious ecosystem that is Chianti Classico and we get to reap the benefits through their delicious wines!
Their flagship wine is the Chianti Classico and is the pillar upon which the rest of their production is built. The grapes are sourced from their three different organic vineyards (Le Tre Vigne) and bring together a beautiful blend of different exposures, soils, and altitudes.
The wine has a gorgeous bright ruby-red hue and greets you in the glass with aromas of cherry, wild berries, and a touch of earth. The first sip brings you Bing cherry compote, orange zest, and blackberries with undertones of delicate florals and a touch of soy sauce and wild sage. The tannins are structured but well integrated into the lively and complex wine. Overall this wine is vibrant and beautifully versatile.
