A beautifully expressive wine that shows just how elegant Alto Piemonte can be. The 2019 Al Forte opens with perfumed aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, and crushed stone, all wrapped in a subtle whisper of spice and cedar. On the palate, it is finely etched and graceful, medium-bodied yet full of tension and depth, with flavors of tart red fruit, blood orange, and a touch of earthy minerality that speak to its mountain origins. The tannins are silky but present, framing a long, precise finish that is both savory and refreshing.
This blend of Nebbiolo, Vespolina, and Croatina captures the character of the region: refined, aromatic, and lifted. Still youthful, it is drinking beautifully now with a brief decant but will continue to evolve for several years, gaining even more nuance and complexity. A superb example of northern Piedmont finesse.
