The 2022 Les Quatre Piliers Bel Air is a standout Sauvignon Blanc from Les Quatre Piliers, a young but highly regarded estate in the Touraine appellation of the Loire Valley. Founded and driven by winemaker Valentin Desloges, the domaine focuses on organic viticulture and hand-crafted wines that express the unique clay and limestone soils of their vineyards. Desloges brings experience from time spent honing his skills in Bordeaux, New Zealand, and Burgundy, and his approach emphasizes balance and purity with minimal intervention in the cellar.
In the glass this 2022 Bel Air shows a deep golden hue with expressive aromas of confit citrus, pineapple, elderflower, and menthol, framed by saline, chalky minerality. On the palate the wine is medium- to full-bodied with vibrant acidity and mouth-filling texture, marked by crystalline fruit intensity and a persistent, minerally finish. It earned strong acclaim from critics, including a 95+ score from Wine Advocate for its aromatic depth, seamless structure, and distinctive terroir character.
Made from a very dry vintage, the 2022 Bel Air is lovely, wafting from the glass with aromas of menthol, white fruits, confit citrus, honey and pineapple, all framed by a delicate touch of oak. Medium- to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, it’s dense and deep, with racy acids and a fleshy core of fruit that concludes with a saline, chalky finish.
