Clos Manou – A Modern Classic from the Médoc

Founded in 1998 by Françoise and Stéphane Dief, Clos Manou has grown from a garage project into one of the Médoc’s most exciting estates. Today, the 18-hectare vineyard is farmed sustainably by hand, using only organic treatments, and planted densely at 10,000 vines per hectare to maximize quality.

The vines thrive on a rare mix of gravel, colluvial sands, and limestone soils, with 53% Merlot (including an extraordinary pre-phylloxera parcel), 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, and small amounts of old-vine Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Each plot is managed individually to capture the full expression of its terroir.

In the cellar, precision meets innovation. Fermentation takes place in concrete, followed by aging in a mix of new French oak, terracotta amphoras, and concrete eggs. The flagship Clos Manou is aged 17 months, 70% in new oak and 30% in amphora and concrete, while the second wine, Petit Manou, sees 12 months in seasoned barrels. Both are bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve purity and character.

These are handcrafted Bordeaux wines with exceptional detail, structure, and elegance—true expressions of the region’s future, yet ready to enjoy today.

The 2009 Clos Manou from the Médoc is a standout vintage that showcases the estate's commitment to quality and craftsmanship. This wine has garnered praise from critics and wine enthusiasts alike, offering a compelling expression of Bordeaux's potential.
