Clos de la Cure is produced by the Domaines Bouyer family in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. The vineyard is described as being on plateaux of clay over limestone/iron-rich soils, densely planted and handled with care: free-run juice predominates, concrete-tank vinification, then maturation in French oak of varying formats) for about 12-15 months.
Aromas and flavors of dark, inky red fruit, new leather, licorice, and blood orange. Plush, creamy texture with depth. The tannins are firm and this wine is medium to full-bodied.
Good depth here with some sweet spices and hazelnut characters from the wood that will still take time for the rich, plummy fruit to digest. Tight and medium- to full-bodied, this has firm and lightly chewy tannins on the palate. Long and slightly grainy in the finish. Give it three more years to mellow and integrate.
The 2022 Clos de la Cure is a plump, juicy Saint-Émilion that will drink well right out of the gate. Inky dark red fruit, new leather, licorice and blood orange all stain the palate. Plush and creamy, with terrific depth… aged in equal parts barrique and cement. … contributes to the wine’s overall balance.
