Planted in 2018 to four Cabernet Sauvignon clones, The Vida Valiente Estate is composed of the Cortina soil series: extremely well drained cobbled rock and sand.
The vineyard is also laced with large chunks of black obsidian, hence the name Glass Mountain, which borders it. This incredible site was formed after thousands of years of alluvial fallout, slowly creating this unique composition.
The 2021 The Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) comes from the estate vineyard on Crystal Springs Road. Deep garnet-purple in color, it takes a swirl or two to awaken this sleeping giant, then it storms out of the glass with intense notes of crushed blackcurrants, fresh boysenberries, and black cherries, giving way to nuances of lilacs, menthol, crushed rocks, and mossy tree bark. The full-bodied palate slowly grows into a crescendo of rich black fruits and earthy sparks, framed by firm, grainy tannins and lovely freshness, finishing long with an impressive firework display of mineral, floral, and savory notes. Only around 200 cases were made.
