There is no winery more intertwined with a California appellation than the iconic Saintsbury Winery located in the heart of the Carneros appellation. This winery opened its doors in 1981 and in 1983 the same year that the winery itself was built, Carneros was named an official AVA. Since then, the Pinot Noirs that this producer defined the plush and gorgeous style that Carneros is known for.
The 2021 Saintsbury Carneros Pinot Noir is absolutely loaded with richly layered dark cherry and wild strawberry fruits laced with spice and cola and hints of mineral earth all wrapped in a ripe and utterly seamless framework of perfectly satin-textured tannin. This wine is delicious and its powerfully intense character is exactly what this special cool climate region that straddles both Napa and Sonoma is known for. This Pinot has a mouth-filling depth that is balanced with a fresh core of juicy acidity!
