The Chianti Classico is the centerpiece of Querciabella's winemaking operations and consistently ranks at the highest levels amongst critics. The winery is dedicated to biodynamic and organic vineyard practices, understanding that they are just stewards of the land and want to leave it better than they found it back in 1974 when Giuseppe (affectionately known as Pepito) Castiglione originally purchased the land overlooking Greve in Chianti. His dream was to craft wines of unparalleled elegance and richness. His eldest daughter Mita is now at the helm and has not lost sight of that dream.
This still relatively young Chianti Classico is fresh, juicy, and anything but tart. You'll find ample red berries, hints of perfume, sun-dried earth, and flint on the nose. In your glass, you will love this medium body bursting with perfectly ripe red berries, cherry & red current pie, juicy pomegranate, hints of espresso beans, and a touch of savory shining through with hints of balsamic, juniper berries, and a little bit of crushed river rock minerality. The tannins are fine-grained and show nicely through the structure of the wine but are well integrated on the palate.
Plenty of sweet berry and cherry character with hints of stone and fresh mushrooms. Chocolate, too. It’s medium-bodied with a solid core of fruit and a chewy yet refined texture. Flavorful finish. Solid and very integrated. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Drink or hold.
