Sourced from 25-year-old goblet-trained Syrah vines planted on steep, terraced slopes with decomposed granite soils, the vineyard benefits from a south to southwest exposure. The organically grown grapes are hand-harvested and destemmed. Fermentation occurs at controlled temperatures, followed by a three-week maceration with gentle pump-overs. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (15% new) and concrete eggs, enhancing its complexity and aging potential. The 2021 vintage presents a ruby red hue with aromas of black fruit, delicate spices, and toasty notes. On the palate, it offers a supple texture with flavors of blackberry, blackcurrant, smoke, leather, and hints of oak and pepper. The wine's structure and minerality make it both approachable now and suitable for aging.
