Sancerre is one of the truly classic and most recognizable white wines in the world. Sauvignon Blanc from this region in the Loire Valley of France has been the inspiration for Sauvignon Blanc produced all over the world, but the unique vineyard sites along the hills and ridge-lines above the Loire Valley and the chalk-laden soils that are farmed there make for extraordinary mineral-driven, vibrant and fresh whites that are a mouth-watering benchmark for the very best that Sauvignon Blanc can be! Of course, as Sancerre has exploded in popularity over the past 5 years the prices of these wines have also exploded.
The delicious Henri Bourgeois 'Les Baronnes' Sancerre is bright and fresh. Crafted using only stainless steel to preserve purity, this wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc. The Bourgeois Family is now in its 11th generation in the wine business but it was Henri Bourgeois who began to focus on the farming of their own grapes in the 1950s, growing his family holdings from 2 hectares to now over 72ha at a time when estate wineries were mostly unheard of. This wine is bursting with fresh lemon and key lime fruits layered with chalky minerals and hints of basil over green apple and candied lemon. Mouth-watering from start to finish, yet with eye-opening richness and drive, this wine is just deliciously easy to drink!
This is a bright and compact Sancerre with lemon peel, lemongrass, white peaches and elderflowers on the nose. It’s medium-bodied, zesty and focused. Drink now. Screw cap.
