Heibel Ranch Vineyards “Dangers” Red 2014, Napa Valley
From Heibel Ranch Vineyards, this Napa Valley red blend is rooted in a small, organically farmed estate tucked into the quieter eastern side of the valley. Production is limited, the approach hands-on, and the intent clear: to craft wines that reflect both site and story with equal weight.
The blend itself is a thoughtful composition—Cabernet Sauvignon forming the backbone, supported by Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. Each variety is fermented separately and aged in oak before being brought together, allowing each component to contribute its own character: Cabernet for structure and cassis-driven depth, Zinfandel for red fruit and spice, and Petite Sirah for color, earth, and tannin.
The 2014 vintage in Napa Valley offered balance and accessibility, and that comes through clearly here.
In the glass, the wine opens with a layered profile of blackberry, dark cherry, and plum, accented by notes of cocoa, spice, and a subtle earthy undertone. There’s a generosity to the fruit, but it’s grounded by structure—nothing overly polished, nothing overworked.
On the palate, it is rich and textured, with a core of ripe fruit supported by integrated tannins and a touch of oak that adds warmth and dimension. The finish lingers with hints of dark chocolate, dried herbs, and spice, giving the wine both depth and a sense of completeness.
What defines “Dangers” is its personality. It doesn’t aim for perfection—it leans into character. A wine that feels both bold and grounded, carrying a bit of Napa’s wild edge alongside its classic structure.
A bottle that tells a story as much as it delivers a profile—best enjoyed with time, conversation, and a bit of curiosity.
