The 2019 “Sainte-Agathe” comes from mature Syrah vines planted in the Condrieu appellation’s decaying granite soils but labeled under Vins de Pays / Collines Rhodaniennes (IGP). Fermentation is done in stainless steel; aging takes place in older barrels (no new oak) to preserve freshness and highlight terroir.
Aromas of red and blue fruits (cherry, blueberry), violet, exotic spices, pepper, and a hint of herbal/mineral character. Juicy, with sappy fruit flavors that show both sweetness and vibrant acidity; fine mineral lines; tannins are medium-fine, providing structure. Long, mineral-driven; intense without being overly heavy; retains energy and lift.
Deep, shimmering ruby. Mineral-accented aromas of ripe red and blue fruits, violet and exotic spices. Sappy and energetic on the palate, offering gently sweet cherry and blueberry flavors that deepen slowly with air and show fine delineation. The blue fruit note drives a very long, mineral finish that's given subtle grip by fine-grained tannins. This bottling can stand up, and best, any number of wines from Côte-Rôtie.
A gorgeous, soaring nose of violets and rose, Turkish delight and pink peppercorns. Light-bodied, so vibrant and appealing with lovely acidity that really cuts through the wine. Not long, but explosively aromatic. A good option if you're budget won't stretch to blonde-side Côte-Rôtie.
