This 2021 Duckhorn Napa Valley Cabernet is made from much of the fruit from the Duckhorn Estate, along with other Napa Valley sites, and this new release shows just how perfect the 2021 vintage was! The wine was aged in French oak barrels for 16 months with about 50% of them being new, creating a texture and purity that gives this Cab an incredible pedigree. The wine is a vivid red/purple color in the glass and the nose jumps out with a lovely bouquet of red and blue fruits and hints of perfumed flowers! Vibrant red currant and cherry lead off and as you swirl the glass over the first few minutes, darker berry fruits unfurl. Blackberry and black currant with hints of cedar and herb with sweet tobacco supported by shaved chocolate take the ball and run, and the entire wine is wonderfully juicy and vibrant. The tannin is ripe and very fine-grained while the chocolaty textures continue to build as you take your third and fourth sips. This gem finishes silky smooth and wonderfully long. This Cabernet is all about elegance!
