Dragonette Cellars Description

The 2024 version of the Happy Canyon Sauvignon Blanc is 42% Grassini, 28% Grimm’s Bluff, 27% Vogelzang, 3% Two Wolves. The wine was aged in 73% neutral oak barrels and 27% stainless steel, with 85% Clone 1 and 15% Musque. The wine is delicious out of the gate showing mixed tropical fruits, crisp citrus-laced acidity, minerals and a touch of fresh herbs.

Jonathan Cristaldi (of Cristaldi % Co and Decanter Magazine) gave this wine a whopping 94 point score and wrote: “Dragonette continues to produce some of California’s most compelling Sauvignon Blancs. This entry-level bottling serves as the precursor to their trio of single-vineyard SBs, offering a vivid preview of the house style. …it’s a dynamic wine driven by orchard and tropical fruit, zesty sea grass, and prairie herbs. A kiss of vanilla and creamy oak spice mingles with lime oil, saffron, and quince, all carried on a long finish laced with crushed almonds and fine sea salt.”

Billy Norris of Antonio Galloni’s Vinous gave the wine 93 points calling the wine “a minerally rich white that packs so much complexity and intensity into its midweight frame.”
