2013 Domaine Buisson-Battault Meursault Premier Cru "Les Gouttes d'Or"
From the esteemed "Les Gouttes d'Or" vineyard in Meursault, this Chardonnay exemplifies the elegance and complexity characteristic of Burgundy's Côte de Beaune. Crafted by Domaine Buisson-Battault, a family estate renowned for its commitment to organic viticulture and terroir expression, this wine offers a harmonious balance between richness and minerality.
Tasting Notes:
The 2013 vintage presents a luminous pale gold hue, inviting the senses with delicate aromas of white flowers, flint, and subtle citrus zest. On the palate, it reveals a refined structure with layers of ripe peach and lemon, complemented by a touch of spice and a mineral backbone. The finish is long and precise, showcasing the vineyard's unique terroir.
Winemaking Details:
The grapes, sourced from vines aged between 14 and 65 years, are hand-harvested and undergo fermentation in oak barrels, with 20% being new oak. The wine is aged for one year in barrel, followed by six months in tank prior to bottling, allowing for optimal maturation and expression of the fruit. Wine-Searcher

The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru Goutte d'Or "THJ" (the initials indicate that Thomas Jefferson is said to have tasted Meursault from Mon. Bachey that is owned by the domaine) has one of the most exotic bouquets compared to the other Meursaults at the moment, with just a hint of licorice accompanying the citrus fruit, although it will calm down by the time of bottling. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, very good weight in the mouth with a precise, quite spicy and concentrated finish that lingers long in the mouth. This will be probably be one of the latest bottles 2013s, probably in March 2014. Excellent. (NM)
