2019 Domaine de Bellene Beaune Premier Cru "Hommage à Françoise Potel" Vieilles Vignes
A masterful expression of Burgundy’s storied terroir, the 2019 "Hommage à Françoise Potel" from Domaine de Bellene is a heartfelt tribute by winemaker Nicolas Potel to his late mother, Françoise. This elegant Premier Cru cuvée is sourced from five of Beaune's finest vineyards—Pertuisots, Montée Rouge, Reversés, Bressandes, and Clos du Roi—each contributing nuance and complexity to the final blend.
Crafted from old-vine Pinot Noir and vinified with native yeasts, the wine undergoes 12 months of élevage in large French oak barrels, 50% new. The result is a strikingly expressive wine of clarity and depth. Aromas of crushed raspberry, wild cherry, and rose petal unfold against a backdrop of wet stone and subtle spice. On the palate, it is vibrant and layered, revealing red berry fruit, earthy undertones, and refined tannins that carry through to a long, pepper-tinged finish.
With exceptional balance and structure, this wine offers both immediate pleasure and superb aging potential. Best enjoyed now through 2035, it pairs exquisitely with game birds, roast duck, or mushroom-based dishes.
