Di Costanzo Caldwell Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
From a historic 1983 planting in Coombsville’s Caldwell Vineyard, this limited-production Cabernet (just ~188 cases) captures the cool, volcanic terroir of Napa’s southern rim. Winemaker Massimo Di Costanzo employed a long maceration and élevage in 40% new French oak, crafting a wine of power and finesse.
The nose offers violets, cassis, graphite, and black cherry, leading into a richly layered palate of dark fruit, mineral tones, and fine-grained tannins. Balanced by lively acidity, it carries through to a long, savory finish. Scoring 97 points from Wine Enthusiast, this bottling is both approachable in its youth with decanting and structured for 10–20 years of graceful aging.
