Didier Gimonnet is the 2nd generation to oversee this exceptional estate in the Premier Cru village of Cuis. The family owns 29.4 hectares of vineyards in Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages, primarily in the Côte des Blancs. The Gimonnet family has been cultivating grapes in Champagne since 1750, with Didier's grandfather, Pierre Gimonnet, beginning to bottle estate-produced Champagnes in 1935.  An impressive 70% of Gimonnet's holdings are over 30 years old which is almost unheard of in the region.  Most of their neighboring producers have nothing but young vines to work with for the time being.

This Blanc de Blanc is 100% Chardonnay with a dosage of 6 g/L with the blend comprised of 70% 2020, and 30% split between 2018-2013.  It is super duper dry, bright, zippy, crisp, and refreshing.  Every sip leaves you wanting more.  Bright pale gold bursting with perfect, tiny bubbles greets you warmly in the glass.  The palate is a mix of pear, lemon curd, subtle touch of white flowers, fresh ginger, river rock, crushed chalk, saltwater ocean breeze, slivered almonds, and just a touch of creaminess.

Jeb Dunnuck: 92 Points

This NV Champagne 1er Cru Blanc de Blancs Cuis Brut is expressive, with more classic appeal, though it takes on a light reductive tinge, with flint and wet asphalt aromatics. It has more direct concentration, with fresh green apple underneath, lemon zest, and white blossoms. The palate is more focused and concentrated, with a long finish and a pronounced chalky texture. The palate is long and persistent, with fresh acidity. I think this will mature nicely and take on classic blanc de blancs custard in the future. Best after 2025.

Wine Spectator: 92 Points

"Graceful and minerally, this bright Champagne dances across the palate, with a chalky underpinning, refreshing acidity and well-meshed flavors of ripe pear, almond skin, biscuit, preserved lemon and white blossoms. Disgorged April 2023. Drink now."

James Suckling: 92 Points

"Subtle aromas of citrus fruit, pear, lemon curd and chalk. Fresh and crisp on the medium-bodied palate, with mineral notes and fine bubbles. Clean and balanced with a lot of freshness and vibrancy. Delicate, creamy aftertaste. Drink now."

Decanter: 91 Points

"The entry-level bottling from the estate's home village of Cuis is always Didier Gimonnet's priority, despite the house having holdings throughout the Côte des Blancs. The village's cool, north-facing aspect comes across in the wine's crispy-fresh, delicate build, bright with lemon macaron and pear juice, but the unusual addition of 27% reserve wine aged in magnums adds a touch of creamy almond depth. Based on the taut, almost nervy 2021 vintage, showing assured purity and zip."
