If it is true that “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” then perhaps the same may be said about grapes on the vine—at least in the case of Hélène Seillan, winemaker for Cenyth, and daughter of renowned winemaker Pierre Seillan. Hélène Seillan spent her childhood in both France and California, surrounded by family and friends for whom winemaking was as much a passion as it was a profession. Many of Hélène‘s first memories are of her family enjoying fine wine and good food. Following in her father’s footsteps, Seillan pursued a career in winemaking and served as assistant winemaker for her father at the family’s Bordeaux estate, Château Lassègue. Simultaneously, she has also been learning about Sonoma County from her father, helping to craft Vérité wines into elegant masterpieces.
For Seillan, Cenyth is a great opportunity to express her love for Cabernet Franc, and it is a genuine reflection of her enthusiasm for Sonoma County and all that it has to offer. For this barrel lot, she has taken the best blocks of Cabernet Franc from Chalk Hill and Alexander Mountain Estate and blended a truly remarkable wine. Deep dark stone fruit emerges, complemented by floral expressions of violet and mixed with terroir characteristics typical of Alexander Mountain Estate’s volcanic soil. Silky tannins finish the style for a seamless, expansive tasting experience.
