The Cedar Knoll Vineyard is now part of Palmaz Vineyards, resurrected in the late 1990s on the historic property originally established in the 1880s by Henry Hagen, one of Napa’s early pioneering winemakers.
The 2016 blend consists of roughly 83 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 12 % Merlot, 2.6 % Petit Verdot, and 1.8 % Cabernet Franc.
The 2016 vintage is approachable now, but will benefit from further cellaring through 2028–2035 to develop tertiary complexity. It is full-bodied, tannic, layered dark fruit, smooth finish with aromas and flavors of blackberry, cassis, dark chocolate, tobacco, cedar, spice, earth.
