The 2017 Aglianico del Vulture Messer Oto opens slowly in the glass, with a delicate mix of black currants, savory herbs and hints of smoke forming its bouquet. This impresses with its purity of fruit and spry personality, as vibrant acids excite its saline-mineral tones and wild berry fruits. A gentle tug of sour citrus and tart raspberry lingers, as the Messer Oto finishes only lightly tannic and fresh.
