The 2021 Brave & Maiden Estate Union is a polished, expressive red that showcases just how compelling Merlot-driven blends can be. Aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry, and cassis rise from the glass, layered with hints of violet, baking spice, and a touch of cocoa. On the palate, it is rich and supple, with juicy flavors of plum, blueberry, and dark cherry unfolding alongside notes of espresso, dark chocolate, and subtle vanilla from oak aging. Fine grained, velvety tannins give the wine structure without weight, while bright acidity keeps everything lifted and food friendly. The finish is long, smooth, and quietly complex, making this a versatile and deeply enjoyable wine for the table or on its own.
In the vein of previous vintages, the blend is fruit forward, delightful and textured. Blueberry, cherry tart, sage. The proportion of Merlot lifts the fruit and intermingles perfectly with the Malbec in the glass. Anise liqueur, cinnamon. Taut structure and pleasant final.
