Bevan Cellars Showket Vineyard “Bab’s Cuvée” 2009 is a bold, impeccably structured red from Oakville, crafted from equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Sourced from the now-iconic Showket Vineyard (later Au Paradis), this wine earned critical acclaim for its depth, power, and polish—scoring up to 97 points from Robert Parker. On the nose, it shows cassis, licorice, incense, and floral spice; on the palate, it’s full-bodied, with dense black fruit, fine tannins, and a long, mineral-laced finish. Built to age, this vintage stands as a benchmark in Bevan’s early work—intense yet refined, with cellaring potential through 2028 and beyond.
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Bab’s Cuvee Showket Vineyard shows quite a bit more freshness than the Julie’s Cuvee. Dark red fruit, mineral flowers and spices flow effortlessly from this focused, vibrant Cabernet Sauvignon. The intensity of the fruit flows through beautifully to the fleshy, expressive finish. Bab’s Cuvee is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon (clone 7) aged in 100% new French oak barrels, 60% Darnajou and 40% Taransaud, a different mix of coopers than Bevan uses for Julie’s Cuvee, which is also clone 7 Cabernet from Showket Vineyard. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.
A muscular expression of Cabernet, deep and chewy, with ripe plum, blackberry, wild berry and floral scents. Tight, focused and tannic. Best to cellar or give a long decant. Best from 2014 through 2028.
