Cooked mango, papaya, poached pear and roasted hazelnut on the nose. Some butterscotch, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with a ripe, creamy and rich palate. Buttery, with lingering caramel notes. Sustainable. Drink now. Screw cap.
Medium straw-colored, the 2020 The Bernard Series Old Vine Chenin Blanc opens with fresh aromas of yellow apple, lemon pastry cream, sautéed almonds, wax melon and nuances of oak spices. Medium-bodied, the Chenin Blanc has succulent acidity with a textural mouthfeel and balanced structure before showing a touch of lees in the way of brioche flavors. The wine concludes with a delightful finish that brings me back for more.
