The 2020 Argiano 'NC' Non Confunditur Toscana IGT is a gorgeously complex blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 20% Sangiovese from the heart of Montalcino. Argiano is one of the oldest producers in Tuscany dating back to 1580 and this wine is one of Tuscany's best values year in and year out. In the early 1990s, Argiano produced the first "Super-Tuscan" wine in the area of Montalcino which is incredible. This wine is organically farmed on the limestone-rich soils of San Angelo in the southern portion of Montalcino where the warmer climates and mineral soils dance perfectly to create this expressive and delicious Super-Tuscan gem. Sangiovese adds a vivid red core to the Cabernet's darker berry fruit and Merlot rounds out the middle and this whole wine just sings! It is juicy and complex and wonderfully elegant with tons of black plum and cherry fruits laced with licorice and cigar box notes.

James Suckling: 92 Points

Blackberry with some asphalt and black-cherry aromas follow through to a medium body with firm, polished tannins and a crisp and clean finish. Cabernet sauvignon, syrah, merlot and a splash of sangiovese.

Wine Enthusiast: 91 Points

A fresh, spicy, peppery nose draws balance from undertones of earth and fruit. The palate turns juicier, without losing the earthiness of the nose, and expertly walks the line between a lush fullness and a linear edginess. It’s balanced but never boring.

Vinous: 90 Points

Inviting from the first tilt of the glass, the 2020 Non Confunditur, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese, reaches up with pretty wild blueberries, sage and violet pastille. It’s silky-smooth with vividly ripe, southern Montalcino red and blue berry fruits carried across a stimulating core of juicy acidity. Sweet spice mingles with black raspberry and minerals throughout the long and lightly structured finale, as this tapers off with outstanding length yet classically poised. The 2020 punches well above its weight class.
