Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
From one of Napa Valley’s most revered sites, this biodynamically farmed Cabernet marries power with precision. Aged 21 months in French and Austrian oak, it reveals violets, black currant, graphite, and exotic spice over a finely etched, mineral frame. Silky yet structured, with racy tannins and bright acidity, the wine carries immense energy and poise. With 96–99 point acclaim and only ~1,168 cases made, it is both a benchmark expression of Coombsville terroir and a collector’s wine built for decades of graceful aging.
Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by beautiful aromas of blueberries, black currants, acacia flowers, licorice, and spice. The tannins are softer than I remember, but this is certainly one of the vintage’s most extraordinary wines. Full-bodied with a seamless integration of tannin, acidity, alcohol, and wood, it is exceptionally pure and full as well as impeccably balanced. The impression is one of elegance allied with substantial flavor authority. It can be drunk now or cellared for 25+ years.
Stunning. Explodes with the most intricately detailed aromas: a perfume of fine smoky oak and ripe black currants. Exudes sheer power, with great weight yet no heaviness. Lush and delicious, but just tannic enough. If you can wait, cellar until 2008, it should hold and improve for many years.
Smooth, rich and savory, with dried currant, wild berry and black cherry fruit that has a dusty, savory herb and underbrush flavor that adds complexity, ending with a pretty burst of ripe fruit. This grows on you.
