The 2021 Alexana 'Terroir Series' Pinot Noir is made from several dry-farmed vineyards in five of the top appellations of the Willamette Valley in Oregon. This combination of sites, each meticulously farmed bio-dynamically with no pesticides, brings wonderfully varied characters that contribute to a simply stunning level of complexity and depth that is one amazing expression of the Willamette Valley. This wine is all hand harvested and fermented with native yeasts in small lots before being blended by winemaker Bryan Weil. It is then aged 10 months in French Oak with about a third of the barrels being new. This wine is crafted to be an opulent and approachable Pinot Noir and it is drinking great now at this young age, but we were all struck by the glorious richness, dizzying savory spice character, and the purity of this new release that can also age!
Owner Dr. Madaiah Revana spared no expense in building his estates in Napa and Oregon. His Alexana Estate, named for his daughter, has remained an under-the-radar gem.
Vivacious and expressive, with sleek raspberry and cherry flavors laced with rose petal, orange peel and hints of forest floor as this sails on the long, supple finish.
