00 Wines — EGW Chardonnay 2023
The 2023 EGW (Extra Good White) Chardonnay is a striking expression of dual-terroir harmony from Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Crafted from equal parts volcanic-soil, high-elevation fruit and cooler, sedimentary-soil parcels, it blends Wente and Dijon clones to deliver both precision and depth.
The nose opens with flint, sea-spray and fresh lemon, layered with subtle white blossoms and herbal tones. On the palate, it’s silken yet vibrant, with citrus zest, salted lemon and a core of shimmering minerality. Bright acidity frames the wine, carrying it into a long, chalk-tinged, saline finish.
Textural, tense and beautifully detailed, the 2023 EGW Chardonnay balances richness with crystalline focus. Enjoy over the next 5–10 years, especially alongside shellfish, roasted poultry, or creamy vegetable dishes.
Lots of flint and matchstick on the nose with sliced-lemon and apple aromas that follow through to a medium body with a tight, focused palate and a crisp, lively finish. The phenolics come out at the end with a lightly chewy texture. Some lemongrass undertones.
