Harahorn Norwegian Small Batch Gin, Norway
Produced in small batches at a craft distillery in southern Norway, this gin draws heavily from the surrounding environment—wild foraged botanicals, coastal elements, and the cool, rugged terrain that defines the region. Each batch is intentionally small (around 300–400 liters), allowing for precise control and a hands-on approach to quality.
At its core, the gin remains grounded in classic structure—juniper forward—but it quickly moves into something more distinctive. Nearly two dozen botanicals are used, many native to Norway, including wild blueberries, rhubarb, seaweed, angelica root, and marjoram, layered alongside citrus peel and spice.
In the glass, the aromatics are clean and lifted—bright juniper, citrus zest, and a subtle herbal freshness. The palate opens with a classic gin backbone, then evolves into something more layered: notes of blueberry, lemon peel, and gentle spice, with a slightly savory edge that hints at its coastal influences.
There’s a clarity to the structure—fresh, precise, and well-defined—but also a quiet complexity that sets it apart from more traditional London Dry styles.
The finish is long and dry, with lingering juniper and a touch of wild berry character that feels distinctly Nordic.
What defines Harahorn is its balance between familiarity and originality. It respects the framework of classic gin, while expressing something entirely its own—driven by the botanicals and landscape of Norway.
A gin that feels both crisp and exploratory—equally compelling in a clean martini or a simple gin and tonic, where its detail can fully show.
