25 years in the making, Felicente is two old friends: Philippe Melka, a master winemaker and Vincent Garry, a veteran of the French barrel trade, coming together to pursue greatness. Using formidable winemaking and distilling skills, and only organic, 100% highland agave, a refined new expression of Tequila waits in the wings. Felicente means happiness, and it’s also a portmanteau of “Feli”ppe and Vin“cent,” compatriots with a shared outlook on life and work. The rooster emblem is a nod to le coq gaulois, a national symbol of France.
The aromas unfold slowly, led by mandarin orange blossom, and a dash of sea spray and white pepper. There's a powdery aroma present, like orris root, complemented by bergamot mint, grapefruit rind, vanilla bean, and floral, mineral notes. The tequila's higher proof (84) gives the aromas superb lift and focus. Felicente Blanco shows itself to be soft and elegant on the palate, with suggestions of pear cherry, and peach. It's very long and persistent, with a soft, sweet mouthfeel and citrusy tones coursing through the finale.
