Duckhorn is one of the truly iconic names in the wine industry and this is their Cabernet Sauvignon in the Red Mountain Appellation of Washington's Columbia Valley.
The 2019 Canvasback Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerfully built, wonderfully complex Cab from the rugged slopes of Eastern Washington, the most prestigious appellation in the state. This is a sensationally intense Cab that just leaps from the glass with red and black currant and intense graphite notes layered with bitter-sweet chocolate, sweet cherry pie, and toasted vanilla oak. This wine is mouth-filling and muscular with hints of rosemary, cedar, and sage and the signature drive and juicy, coiled power that Red Mountain is known for. This area is a high desert with very warm days and crazy cool nights that make for dark colors and intense fruit in this wine, which is part of the Duckhorn portfolio.
Aromas of grated nutmeg, black and red currants, and wild herbs. Full-bodied with firm tannins. Fresh acidity and ripe fruit create a pleasant dynamic on the palate. Well balanced. 84% cabernet sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 7% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot
